Das Buch ist sehr interessant für alle diejenigen, die sich mit neuen Modellen von Kunst und Öffentlichkeit auseinander setzten, aber vor allem auch (vielleicht überraschend) für Interessierte an Performance. Mir scheint hier eine sehr aktuelle Theoretisierung gelungen, die sich mit der Frage von Performativität und sozialer Verbindlichkeit in der Kunst (also der Frage Kunst und Leben) auseinandersetzt. Es ist gut geschrieben und toll recherchiert, der Bogen reicht vom Wien der 1960er Jahre, Jugoslawien in den 1970er Jahren und Deutschland vor 1989 bis zum heutigen Kunstgeschehen.Auch für die Geschichte der Performance ist das Buch von spezieller Bedeutung: Wenig bekannte frühe Arbeiten von Marina Abramovic werden anhand archivarischer Quellen in Belgrad untersucht und gängige Meinungen zu berühmten Aktionen, etwa der österreichischen Künstlerin VALIE EXPORT, akribisch hinterfragt. Das Buch ist komplex, aber (bei guten Englischkenntnissen) sehr gut und spannend zu lesen.
